Wacka Alpaca Presents: RobzdaBlade Brawl Modding Contest! Is Live!!!

The second contest is finally here! Enjoy the 5 demo videos as I talk about the merits of each one, slowly progressing to the ultimate winner, 1st place!
Unfortunately, this will be my last video - atleast in the foreseeable future, my school life, and life in general have gotten way to busy to keep this up, and although I'll miss it, I have to stop.
I will still be available for questions, although I am not able to answer even 10% of the mails I get every day due to the sheer size of them.
Thanks for being so gracious to me, and please continue to mod and hack to your hearts content!

Chaos And Calamity Strike :(

Ugh.... I would have finished the contest today for you all, but my hot water heater ruptured... then a pipe in my roof burst... yea.
So needless to say, I JUST got back online as my computer was dangerously close to the new hole in my roof.

The contest will get worked on tomorrow, and hopefully will be completed. if not, expect it by saturday :)

Wish my luck in this trying time, i hope to make a great video for you all!

uGotNachoed Lends A Hand!!!

Hey everyone, as you may have read from the last posts comments, uGotNachoed has volunteered to record the videos for me in his spare time for the second contest - and therefore the video will be done sooner!
I have given him the link to the files as of now, so whenever he finishes, I'll work on my end and ship it out ASAP.
Please give him a massive thanks below, he is helping us all out!

Contest Update

Hey guys, sorry it has been rather dry for a while, my life is crazier than Cypress Hill right now. But I have good (Or Atleast Informative) news!

I talked to LucSkywalker16 the other day, and asked when he would have time to make the videos, and he said he has semester break in about 2 weeks, and then he will have access to a wii. That means that there is a good chance I can make the video within the month of October!!!

And know this, when I get the files, I won't sleep until the video is done! You guys have waited too long, and I appreciate your patience.
Just a bit longer guys, hold in there.

Question Of The Day:
"What new character would you like added to whatever the next smash bros. is?"

For me, I really, REALLY want Banjo-Kazooie, even though I know it isn't possible due to legal issues. But man that was one of my fav games ever. Let me know yours!!!

More Work Than Rest :(

Oh man, digital arts was never set up to me as an easy workplace, but after spending 3 days in a row working for 15-16 hours a day, I now understand what I have to do.
Sadly this literally means I have no time to do this work :(

Hopefully, HOPEFULLY I will cheat some time away from something and get the tut done - I'll make a massive effort to finish by the end of the weekend.

Question of the Day:
"Should Nintendo Make A Smash Bros. Game For The 3DS?"

I don't think they should, unless it is a massive online experience (Which the wii itteration lacked). Hopefully Street Fighter IV 3D will pave the way for fighting games on the handheld :)

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Today is Sunday!

That means that after I finish all my homework (Which will take like 9+ hours) I will have some legit spare time!
There is a chance that I will do the tut today!

I will try to be devote to the idea, but it can be really hard to work for so long.

Question of the Day:
"Does drinking 4L of Coca-Cola a day constitute an "Addiction"?"

It's not like my friend NEEDS it, but he just ends up drinking that much everyday. I'd say no. You guys?

CSS Codes For Additional Charaacters Has Won!

Alright guys, you voted through CSS Codes For Additional Charaacters and as such, I will start working on it. Hopefully it will be done within the next week, but more realistically it MAY take up to 3 weeks to get around to. I'm aiming for doing it tomorrow... but can't garuntee anything.

Enjoy the waiting!

Question of the Day:
"Would you guys think me having a website would be a good idea?"

I thought about it back when I made this, but this is free and can do almost just as much... Lemme know what you think!

Slowdown

Wow, sometimes life just smacks you in the face. Nothing seems to be matching up right now, and I'm always strapped for time, I'm sorry to all the people I can't reply to about their questions, but I encourge anyone who knows the answers and can post, to help each other out. We are a community!

The tut poll is closing soon, so I should have it finished soon - keeping in mind school and whatnot. Let's hope for the best!

General Update

Hey guys, I guess you noticed that I didn't get that bonus tut out the door, but hey! I had a fun weekend, how about you all? Anyway, I have nothing new to report per-se, the tut will be done after the poll ends, and I am waiting on my friend for the gameplay videos for the contest, but I really wanted to put this post out there to remind everyone who visits this blog often (Quite a few to be honest) to please help me out by taking the 2 or 3 seconds to visit any of the ads on the side that interest you (Maybe even all of them). I truly truly appreciate any help, and I'll try to work extra hard for all of you!

Thanks.

Even Busier!

I can't believe it, but somehow I got more homework than last week! Hopefully I can get it all done really quick, and maybe (Just maybe, no garuntees) I can make a bonus surprise tutorial!

Unlikely, but possible - Enjoy the suspense!

Question Of The Day:
"What type of modding do you think is the hardest?"

Personally, I find animation modding to be the hardest - as it never really looks... perfect. Although model and vertex hacks are really tough too... let me know what you all think!

Contest Update

Hey guys, this is an update post on the workings of the contest video.
At this point, I have chosen the winners! So congratulations to those who won, and thank you to those who participated.

For the first time, "Honourable Mentions" will be included in the video! That's right, not just the top three will be showcased, but a bonus two mods will be shown as runner-ups. Congrats to those two!
... Even though you don't know who you are yet!

I have sent the files off to LucSkywalker16 for recording - so give him a big thank you below, he is also in first year university, and is equally (If not moreso) busy as I am.

The video will be done before the next tutorial comes out, but I will not give a timeline. Enjoy the wait!

With A Minute To Spare!!!

*Foreword*
The HD version is live now, this post has been updated to reflect that. Enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright! I kept my promise and got the tutorial done today! It was uploaded at 11:59pm so it totally counts :P
Well, the description isn't done, and for HD you'll have to wait, but hey! isn't waiting the best part?!
Enjoy everyone, have a great weekend.

Technical Difficulties...

Gah... alright guys... I know I promised that the tut would be done today - and it would have been! but unfortunately due to technical difficulties I will have to put it off until much later tonight. By the time it will be uploaded, it may very well be "Tomorrow" where I live.

Again my deepest apologies, I have actually recorded the video 3 different times now, but due to the stupid "Black Screen Of Death" in camtasia... I have no work to actually SHOW you. And... although audio tutorials would be a neat change, they may not be effective when I talk about things like "Now look at this icon, see how it changes size?".

Sorry about the wait, but I will get it done! I promise!

Thursday, September 9, 2010

Swamped :(

Gah... University is just as hard and time consuming as anyone would expect :(
That's not to say I'm not loving it or anything - it just eats most of my time.

Hopefully this weekend I will man up and finish all my homework right away, then get the tut done and work on the contest vid. I want to get these done for you guys because I know how hard you all worked on them!

Stay tooned for the weekend (I promised a sat night latest release on the tut anyway)!!!

Have fun modding guys!

Home From PAX

Alright everyone, my little stint at PAX is over, but the good times will keep on rolling.
I have a number of projects in the works for you guys (More demos, new tut, contest, etc) but school is just as chaotic and busy as I expected - perhaps moreso.
I am trying to widdle away at the tutorial, so that you all will have something to do while I finish the contest - so I am going to make a commitment to finish the tutorial by saturday night at the latest.
That's right, you read it here, the tut WILL be done by at the latest saturday night.

I wish you were all at PAX with me! I could have held my own panel about brawl hacking XD I'm glad to be back though, and I'll talk to you all soon!

Saturday, September 4, 2010

PAX Info!

Hey everyone! Apparently there was a huge brawl tourney at PAX today, but I missed it.
D:

I am going back to PAX tomorrow, so if you see the guy with the VFS backpack, pull me aside and we can talk! I hope to see you there!

Friday, September 3, 2010

PAX!

Hey everyone, I head off on a bus to PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) in about an hour!
I will try to take video of the event, and some of the games I get to play early - and upload them for you all :)

Wish you were all going too! And if you will be there, you can meet with me by shouting "WACKAWACKAWACKA" over and over until I hear you - then I'll come over and talk to you :)
See you all on Tuesday!

Good News!

Hey everyone! I had my first day of university today, and there is good news for all of you!
Every student is allocated a peice of their webserver to hold files online, and you can make any amount of that you want public!
Which means, that now for all of my downloads, you do not have to deal with Rapidshare or Mediafire! Direct downloads from me are on the way!

Also, i can use this space to make a website, so there is a possibility that I will have a private website instead of this blog for all upcoming info. This second one is not super likely, as I am only given 100megabytes of space so a "Forum" wouldn't fit on it for very long!

expect me to upload the files to my private space and edit the videos sometime soon.

And in other news, I have been judging away at the contest entrants in my free time, and have widdled it down to the top 7! So expect me to make some tough cuts and get this video out within the next month.

In other, other news, the tutorial is planned to be done by at the latest THIS Saturday - so check your youtube accounts frequently for the new video!

Question Of The Day:
"Have you ever had any trouble with the downloads from sites such as Rapidshare or Mediafire?"

Personally, I never have, but I understand that many users have been hindered, and some even have not been able to begin hacking because of technical difficulties with these sites.

OK, here is the demonstration for custom Battle Portraits, look in the bottom corner and see how we edited mario's! Enjoy! And always remember, the folder is called "Portrite" not "Portrait". Give a huge thanks to LucSkywalker16 again for the great screeen recording!

Question Of The Day:
"How much are you loving the screen recorded demos?"

I absolutely love them, the quality is high compared to my handcam, and it really reduces the workload on my end - thanks again LucSkywalker16!

Immense Update!!!!

Alright Everyone! I am back from vacation, and it is time to make a huge announcement post here. This post will cover many of the important events coming up, so be sure to read every section!

Section 01:
Contest Entry Period Is Finished!

That's right! As of August 6th 11:59pm the entry period has been closed, and all the submissions have been finalized. I wish all of those competitors the best of luck!
What this means, is that the judgement phase has now started, and the contest's release video will be out soon!
A huge landmark in my youtube career, the first contest has reached over five thousand views! I have high hopes that the new contest will soar even higher with the help of all the great mods and hacks entered!
Expect the video to be out within the next 2 weeks for sure.

Section 02:
With A Little Help From A Friend... Demonstration Videos!!!

Oh yea, we all have LucSkywalker16 to thank for being such a great supporter of the brawl modding community - he agreed a couple weeks ago to help me run some hacks on his wii, he has a capture card so the videos are of great quality! And hey, how could it be worse than my hand held cam crammed between my legs while trying to play, and talk loud enough for the cam to hear it! A huge huge huge thanks goes out to him again, and if you are also thankful, please sign off below!
Expect these 3 demos to come out gradually over the course of the next week (I want to have something to tide you all over before the contest, and the next tutorial).
The demos he finished (I have to narrate, but the video is done (And superbly if I may say so again)) are:
Animated Stage Platform
Battle Portraits
Non-Stretching Animation Swapping

Thanks again LucSkywalker16!!!

Section 03:
Poll Results And Tutorial Update!

The poll is now closed as you all can see, and I am amazed at the massive amount of votes on it! The highest count yet at 103 votes, thanks so much for the effort guys!
Of course, CSS Organiser is the winner, and from the time I added it to the poll, to now, the second version of it has come out, so I will cover that instead. Congratulations to everyone who voted for this, you are all getting what you want!
Expect this tutorial to come out sometime in the next week and a half, definately before the contest video, but after the new demos mentioned above.

Section 04:
General Updates On Some Videos.

It has been brought to my attention that some things on my "Non-Stretching" tutorial could have been better, so I will add annotations for all the people who want to get max results out of their mods!
Expect the annotations on the videos by the end of this week.

Also, a great guy (Or group perhaps) named HuzzahGames have created a MAC version of Brawlbox for download on a thread here:
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=10852659
This version is completely compatible with all mac computers so all of you... disadvantaged users can get in the fun now easily! Please read the entire Opening Post he makes, as there is a Q&A and a download link for the file. Thanks again HuzzahGames!
I will be updating "Downloading Of All Necessary Files" description by adding this link, and adding annotations to the video, so let all your mac user 'friends' know!

Section 05:
Removal Of Old Videos.

Sadly, my old videos do not suite the needs of my fans, and were all uploaded a long time ago. I have decided to remove all of the videos not related to Brawl, or 3DS Max, or my demo reel type things from my youtube account. If you enjoyed any of them, and want to see them a last time, do so quickly because I will be removing them by the end of the day at the latest.

Section 06:
I Start University In A Week!

That's a fact! Next week my orientation at VFS (Vancouver Film School) starts, which means that the week AFTER the orientation (2 weeks from now) I will be starting there full time! Sadly, this means that for all of you my ability to maintain constant videos may be diminished. I will try my absolute hardest to work on my tutorial and demonstration videos in my free time, but anyone who goes to school or has a full time job can tell you that there are definately times when you have NO free time.
I would therefore really like to ask everyone to help me out by following the directions in my PMs on youtube. Having some money to go around and live is always great, and any amount that reduces my university costs is greatly appreciated. If I have cash to just play around with, I won't have to do contract jobs (Mowing Lawns, Raking Leaves, etc) in my spare time to earn money, which in turn lets me make more videos for all of you! So thank you to anyone who helps me out, and please remember that if you love my videos, you can donate through paypal by the link on my youtube channel.
Thanks everyone, wish me luck!

I think that is everyone I have to say... I will be updating my blog as I release new videos like the 3 demos, tutorial, and contest results, but I will try to leave this message up as long as I can so everyone gets a chance to read it. And since you are here already, please check out the new poll if it is up, and help me out by visiting any of the advertisement links you are interested in - they love to have you stop by their sites and learn mroe about their product!

Thanks again everyone!

.OBJ Model Importing Voted Out!

Hey, this post is a bit late, but I did not want it stepping on the toes of the new tutorials post. The tutorial for importing .OBJ models was flawed from the get-go so don't feel like you have been robbed of any opportunities, and I promise you, that if there is a better method out there (Or one becomes available in the future) I will cover that in a tutorial. Thanks for all the votes, and please enjoy all of my tutorials!

Question Of The Day:
"Did you like or dislike my new mic in my last tutorial?"

I ask because I got it as a gift, but I think it was picking up my breathing as it is a headset, not like the mic I used before which had a stand that I put on my desk. The benefit of the headset is that you do not get the noises of my clicking (As much) nor the noises of me doing pen tricks and typing on my keyboard. The downside is obviously the breathing thing - however I may be able to move the actual mic part of the headset away from my breathing area to aleviate that issue. So please sign off below on which one you think is the best, and I hope to please everyone with the end choice! Thanks!

Non-Stretching Animation Swapping Is Live!

Hey everyone, check out the new tutorial added to the roster - it will be the last one until after I come home from vacation (Coming home on the 15th) so make it last!
I will add a new poll, and have that also conclude on the 15th. Also, the contest ends on a day that I am away (If I remember correctly) so I will not be accepting any entrants from that point on, even though I am not here to receive them (I can see the time sent on my email, and youtube emails me when I get PM's).
So thanks to everyone who entered, and good luck to everyone in the contest. Enjoy the tutorial!

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Non-Stretching Animation Swapping

The tutorial for making your animation swaps, not stretch out of proportion!
I highly recommend that you watch the tutorial before this, "Animation Swapping" first because a lot of theory and steps are explained in a lot more detail. this tutorial ended up going 4 minutes long (Ouch!) which mean you will see (And hear) a lot of quick cuts.
Please note that at the end, I just end the video after saying "We are done" - the location you put the file in is explained in the tutorial mentioned above, so again I urge you to watch that if you havn't.
Also, I used my new microphone (Headset) for this tutorial, please let me know what you think of it in comparison to my other videos where I use my standard mic - is this one better, worse, etc? Thanks so much!

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Overall Update:

Hey everyone, I know I haven't really posted anything here in a while, but I have been quite busy with life, and also SCII came out. I will make the animation tutorial when the .obj one gets shot down, and hopefully find some time to get some demonstrations up.

SCII is the best though, go buy it. :)
I will be sending out my "Help Request" PMs soon, please, please help me out. Literally, I absolutely LOVE Starcraft, and I have a hard time going away from it. Please help me out so I can justify it in my mind. Thanks guys! Everything helps.

Saturday, July 24, 2010

Oh The Heartache!

Alright everyone, we have a decision to make that I will add as a poll on the left hand side of the website - Should I make the .obj model tutorial?

Now, the reason I would not make it, is because:
- Does not always work (I would go so far to say, it is uncommon)
- Requires 3ds Max (A problem viewers have told me before)
- Requires the downloading and installation of SZS Modifier (Mario Kart: Wii Editor)
- You have to actually FIND a .obj model (Outside of making your own, the filetype is NOT used in games - AKA hard to find)
- It has a lot of improvisation (As in, some settings along the way will be different for EACH model)

Now, I CAN make this tutorial, however, I can garuntee, that at this point using this method is unadvisable, even PhantomWings has said to forget it for now, and the discoveror and inventor of the method, Pikazz, has said this:
I must say it myself... obj importing is a **** and *************** in a car
************** with a stick of dymanite ******** in a tower and ****** falcon punch ******** in a microwave!
and I hate to admit it too
Not only that, but atleast 80% of everyone who tries this tutorial, will fail.

I would like to offer another option, of simply NOT doing it and instead doing a different tutorial next week. I will do the runner up tutorial (Stretchless Animations) this week, and if you vote "Do It!" I will do the .obj tut next week, if you all vote "Don't Do It!" I will open normal polls for next week.

Let me know your thoughts on this faulty method below! Thanks!

Import .OBJ Models Has Won!

Alright! The poll is closed, and .OBJ Models has won it.
I will get to work on this tutorial, and definately upload it before Sunday.
I am also trying to do the missing demonstrations, however, it is difficult for me to do, because my brawl is SO hacked, that sometimes changing one tiny thing crashes everything because my whole system is so complex.

I shall press on though, and try to get those up!

Enjoy the wait!

Monday, July 19, 2010

Non-stretching Animation Swapping Info

So, we all know that when you put a characters animation on to ANOTHER character (Example: Mario doing a Falcon Punch), the model (Of Mario in this case) stretches to look like (In this case, C. Falcon) the first character.
What this tutorial would cover, is a new way of doing this that would NOT stretch the model.

This opens up a lot of new opportunities for all you character hackers, as you can now make those epic hybrid characters everyone wants to much (Example: ZSS with Peaches hip check - lol).

I hope to see more votes on this one, because it is a lot of fun, and was introduced to me by a viewer like you!

Question Of The Day:
"What moves do you want to see added to which character?"

I want to see the ZSS hip check thing... XD

*Notice!*
Hey everyone, recently Rai0fighter put a video of his 2D stage as a "Video Response" to my "Creation Of 2D Stages Tutorial", so I thought I would give him a shout-out here, and link to his great work.
He made a stage built around a submarine from the popular side scrolling shoot-em-up Metal Slug. I hope you all check out his work, and leave him a comment on what you think!

Rai0fighter's Metal Slug 2D Stage

If any of you guys leave a video response to my tuts, I will try to do similar shout-outs to you on here!
Happy modding!

Import .OBJ Models Info

Alright, so hopefully you all have watched importing of .mdl0 files, this is another tutorial on the importation of model files, but with .OBJ filetypes!

What this means is, more Wii games are accesible, so you can import models from even more games!

Yes, this is fairly redundant, but you know, an important progression in brawl modding.

Question Of The Day:
"Are there any characters from Wii games you want to import (Or have imported by others)?"

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Visible Polygons In Vertex Hacking Info

Alright, so everyone who has watched my vertex hacking tutorial knows that when you are editing the vertices in 3DSmax, you cannot see anything but the individual points.
This makes it really hard to make complicated objects, because you are basically modelling blind.

What this tutorial would cover, is one intrepid hacker's method of temporarily CREATING the polygons that would actually show in brawl, so you can edit the model much much much easier.

If you are a serious character hacker, and want to make characters that are not on .mdl0 Wii games (Examples; Roy, Mewtwo, Young Link).

I hope to see some more votes on this one!

Question Of The Day:
"Who would you like to (Or see hackers) add to brawl?"

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Goto And If Statements Tutorial Is Up!

Goto and If Statements is a tutorial that will explain to you how "Goto" and "If" statements work. We also cover "Else" statements, which directly relate to "If" statements.
IF you are wanting to get better with project smash attacks, GOTO this tutorial for information! I Hope You All Enjoy, And Please Comment, Rate, And Subscribe!

Don't forget to vote for the next tutorial!

Quick Update

Alright, for some reason my screen capture program (Camtasia) is on the fritz.
I have tried to make the video tutorial for "Goto and If Statements" over 4 times now (Which equates to over 40 minutes of footage) and for some reason, the editor will not recognise the video portion of the file.
It only gives the audio.

GAH.
so that is over half an hour preping what I will talk about, then 40 minutes of wasted footage + 10 more for the one that will work, plus 20 minutes of uploading and writing the blog entry about it/the youtube description.

This is easily my second longest tutorial I have ever had to create (The first being character hexing the HARD way, which took over 11 hours to produce all 4 videos, ouch).

I hope you all enjoy it when it finally decides to work!
and if any of you have had similar problems with camtasia, and know how to fix it, please leave a comment below.
Thanks!

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Custom Battle Portraits Is Live!

Hey everyone, the battle portraits tutorial is finished, and ready for you all to learn the process of making your own custom battle portraits!
Although Really Repetitive, Having Custom Battle Portraits (Portrites? XD) In You Game Is A Real Treat. I Hope You All Enjoy!

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Custom Battle Portraits

I hope you enjoy this great tut, and the next video will be up soon (Goto and If Statements), I have run into some technical difficulty, but it should be resolved soon.

Question Of The Day:
"Who would win in a REALISTIC fight, Mario, or Bowser?"

I think that realistically, Bowser would easily beat Mario by just using flame breathe. Plus, I don't think Mario's fireballs would really hurt Bowser that much.
Chime in and let me know what you think!

Friday, July 2, 2010

Oops!

Hey everyone! I forgot to write a "I'm on Vacation!" post. I know I said those tuts would be finished soon or at least by Sunday. But unfortunately, I forgot about going on vacation, and then I forgot to let everyone know.

What this means, is that I will not be able to respond to any questions, or create any videos until at least Tuesday. I hope that when I get back, I will whip up those tuts super fast, and get back on track!

Thanks for bearing with me in this tough tutorial time and work hard on your contest submissions!!!

Question Of The Day:
"Where Is Your Favorite Vacation Spot?"

I personally like taking vacations in my own home town. I am pretty lucky that I live in Vancouver, so there is a lot to do around town. But let me know where you love to be when you can't stand work, or are enjoying families company.

"Goto" And "If" Statements In PSA Has Won!

Alright! Apparently, after all this time, you guys want to learn some basic coding. I'll have to come up with a better name... but let's take this one step at a time.

A basic description here, a "Goto" statement, simply redirects the current flow of events to another place, and when THAT chain of events finishes, it comes back, and continues on with the rest of the code.
a "If" statement basically sets up a scenario, and in the event that this scenario HAPPENS, whatever extra code you have set up.

combining these two is extremely common with all types of games, as they the bread and butter of coding!

Expect this tut out soon, I'll try to release this one second, and the "Battle Portraits" first. Enjoy the wait!

Question Of The Day:
"Do You Plan On Participating In The Current Contest?"

I don't XD
But the winner of the last one, RobzdaBlade, will be helping me judge all of your guys's work! So we now have a panel of judges! I'm excited to see all of your works!

Custom Stock Icons Tutorial is here and ready for your watching!
Watch and learn how to edit the little icons above the % signs in combat.
Enjoy!

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Custom Stock Icons

Demo Should be up sometime soon, along with the demo for the other tut I haven't finished yet!
Enjoy!

P.S.
Sorry! I have been informed that this is actually a tut on how to edit the STOCK icons, not the "Battle Portraits". I thought they were the same thing, but do not worry! I will release the battle portraits tutorial along with the tutorial you vote for this week!
A double whammy!
Two for the vote of one!
Thanks again to those who pointed this out!

Apologies

Hey everyone, I am still here, and I apologize for the discrepency between tutorials.
It is a very busy time for me as of late, and again I beg your pardon.

Now that E3 is over, I have a bit less on my plate (Fun fact, I was supposed to go to E3 this year, but was held up by schooling).

I still have my finals to go through, so wish me luck!

Question Of The Day:
"Who Do You Think Should Have Been In Brawl That Wasn't?"

I think Leon Kennedy should have been in there, he could have been a clone of snake, but with incendiary grenades, and cool knife and kicking melee moves.
What are you favs?!

Monday, June 14, 2010

Argh! Busy Life!

I am going to take a bit longer than usual to get this next tutorial out. I just have a lot on my plate as of the moment, what with final exams, the contest, and the usual.

I'm hoping to have some free time on Thursday, so enjoy the wait!

Question Of The Day:
"How Many Hours A Week Do You Spend Modding?"

I spend roughly 8 hours a week doing mods, which include the time for my tutorials.
How long do you guys spend?

Huge Contest Submission Period Ends Today!

Hey everyone!
I just realised that it is the 12th of June, which means my contests period for submissions is OVER!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit their works, and I will make a post soon about the timeline for the big winners contest video, runner's up video, and award ceremony type thing!

Stay tooned for all the great things about to happen!

Custom Battle Portraits Has Won!

Alright! I guess people want to have those tiny pictures of characters heads be editable!
Personally, I think this is the most pointless mod, as I never look at anything down there but the %'s.

But alas, I do for you, not I.

Expect this tut to be up soon!

Question Of The Day:
"Least Favorite Character To Fight?"
I hate fighting Meta-Knight, one of my friends just uses him to spam the whorenado, and so it just becomes a whole lot of annoyance.
What's your least favorite opponent?

CSS Organizer Info

CSS Organizer is a program designed to make creating you own CSS (Character Selection Screens).
It has a great drag and drop interface, and low file size to download.
It is definately something anyone who wants a cool CSS should check out!

I hope to see it grab some more votes as the final day trudges on!

Question Of The Day:
"What is your favorite part of brawl to hack?"

Mine is definately the textures and models of characters.
I dislike doing any modding that unbalances the game, so Textures, Models, and Stages are the path I often take. Let me know yours!

Changing CSS Names Wins!

Alright!
This one has been around for a while, and is quite enjoyable to see in game, especially when you have a custom font you use for every character.
It just gives your CSS a more custom feeling.

Well, the waiting for it to release starts now!
Enjoy it!
(Should be around Saturday, or Sunday)

Question of the Day:
"What is your favorite character to play as?"

Mine is definately Ganondorf, he is not my BEST character, but he is so much fun to play as, let me know yours!

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Animated Stage Collisions Is Now Live!

The animated stage collision tutorial is finished and uploaded now!
With this tutorial you can learn how to animate the models in your new 3-D stages, and then make the collisions follow them so you can have:
- Moving platforms
- Windmills
- Flying stages (With a cool custom background of course!)
- Endless other ideas!

Please check the video out by following the link below (Hyperlinked in the text), or enjoy a new feature I will be using from now on when introducing tutorials/demos, embedding!
Now you can enjoy watching my new tutorials from the comfort of my blog!
I thank everyone for watching, and another special thanks to Mewtwo2000 for helping me once again!
Thank you!

P.S. The guy infront of those two menacing pumas is me, I made the background on photoshop from an image of a landscape, a puma, another puma, and a graduation picture of mine. "Isn't she beautiful?"※

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Animated Stage Collisions

Satisfaction※

Alright, once I get access to my wii, I will be able to make the tutorial, and the demo! Unfortunately, my computer is right beside my tv, and unless you all want Indy 500 noise going on in the background, you will have to wait until later today.
It is remarkably easy, my friend Mewtwo2000 figured out a way to do it without hexing, and I can honestly say, this will be a really fun tut to watch.

Enjoy the wait, so you can get your Satisfaction※

No Sugar Tonight ※

Sorry everyone, I am just as confused as all of you when it comes to hexing, and this tutorial that you voted for, requires hexing.
Ha, and I thought I was going overboard with those "Intro to Hex" tutorials, I guess they were pretty useful anyway!

I am asking my friend in hacking Mewtwo2000 for help again, as he is a huge time hacker, and you may all know him from his amazing work on pushing the limits of stage hacking.

So, No Sugar Tonight※ for all you you, chill out and drink some Hot Tea※.
To give you something to do here though, I am making the new poll, so go ahead and vote vote vote!

Back In Black ※

Hey everyone! I'm back from glorious Miami beach and ready to get back to work!
(Well, as ready as anyone can be...)

I will get to work answering all 400 emails I got over the weekend... (Youch...)
And after I get a decent way into them, I should have the new tut up for thursday night!
(May come out earlier depending on life and stuff)

I hope you all didn't miss me too much.
:)

Vacation Warning!

OK, so I'm going on vacation untill Tuesday, so the poll will not change until atleast then, and the tut also won't be done.
Sorry!
But I will finish them when I get back, so stay tooned!

And if you feel obliged to help me, you all know how!
:)

Thanks to everyone who watches, and learns with me week by week.

Custom Strap Loader Info

Alright, so we got one new entry into this week's poll, Custom Strap Loader.
Now, this is probably one of my absolute FAVORITE mods.
As soon as you boot up brawl, you see the nintendo issued wrist strap warning loader.

But the cool thing about modding this is, that we can make it super customized!
Make it say your name, or showcase some funny pictures, anything!

Mine personally has a warning message which reads:
"Ownage By Wacka Alpaca Not Rated By The ESRB, Prepare Yourself."

Makes me laugh everytime.
Vote for this if you want some cool menu hacks, this really makes your brawl feel original.

Question of the Day:
"If I wasn't making these tutorials, would you be making mods, or would you be completely lost?"

Huge Contest!

Hey everyone, I apologise for not posting recently, but I have been backed up with studying for physics and working, and practicing with my rugby team, etc, etc.
Oh, just FYI, I went to Playland yesterday with said physics class, and it was awesome.
If you don't know what Playland is, it is basically a really small Six Flags, but in Vancouver.

I guess I should put something in here related to brawl so...
At this juncture, I would like to annouce the contest I have been planning!

- One submission per person

Pointers:
- I want to see work from everyone! You can't win if you don't try!

Final Demo Is Finished!

Rejoice! The amazing platformed Final Destination Stage demo is finally finished!
You can all now look at how it works in game, and hopefully gain the courage to make your own amazing stages.
Have a tonne of fun playing around with stages, I do, and it keeps me motivated to keep on helping you all!

Brawlbox Demonstration - Creating Stages From Elements Of Other Stages

Question of the day:

"What kind of stages are you planning to make with all my stage modding tutorials, if any?"

I for one am planning on making some classic Hyrule Temple from N64!
Enjoy! And have fun with brawl modding!

New Poll Is Up!

Alright, new poll!
I apologise for being so busy, but I can't really control it.
I would be able to schedule some things around if I could justify this over working, as in, if I recieved donations or more people help me out (Like you know how).

I really appreciate you guys's support, and hope to have the third demo up soon, but for now, be happy with the new poll, and other 2 demos.

Demonstration Completion Info

I am again, very busy right now, and hope to get some free time tomorrow (Tuesday) to finish the demos.
One of the problems is that becuase of the number of demos I have to shoot, it will take a long time for me to get through them, and it is hard for me to devote that much time to it right now.

In brighter news, the Friday mass mail went EXTREMELY well, and I appreciate everyone who helped, and encourage you to ask me any questions you havwe about brawl modding. And if when you are reading this, decide to help me again, I would be ecstatic.

Thank you all so much!

Finish The Demonstrations Has Won!

Ooooh... This hurts my feelings a bit people...
You think I'm that lazy?
:(

Oh well, if you all want me to pull my act together and finish the demos I will, but I would have thought you would all want another tasty tutorial!

Check back frequently to see when I finish them, and just so I don't miss any, please put replies to this post saying which demos aren't done, thanks!

p.s. make sure to check out the mini-project 2!!!
p.p.s. I have removed the Q&A section, I couldn't get it working, sorry!

2 New 3DS Max Tutorials

Hey, I've been pushing these off for quite a while, and my teacher has finally cracked down, so here are two more 3DS Max tutorials, fresh from Wacka's oven!

Mini Project 02

Alright! After the initial success the first mini-project recieved, I have decided that we need another! This time, stage related!
That Goomba has to brawl somewhere!!!

Mini Project 02:

Name: Platform Destination
Required Tutorials: Creating Stages From Elements Of Other Stages, Editing Animations, Editing .rel Files, Custom Stage Select Portraits, Editing Collision Data, Animated Collision Editing.

1) - Open Final Destination In BB
2) - Open any level that has a good platform model (F-Zero level, Sunshine Level, Animal Crossing Level, etc)
3) - Export the model data for your new platform.
4) - Export the texture data for the platform.
5) - Add the model to FD (Using the "Creating Stages From Elements Of Other Stages" Tutorial for guidance)
6) - Animate the platform to your liking (For me, this would be gently moving from far left to far right. Use Editing Animations and Creating Stages From Elements Of Other Stages tutorials for guidance)
7) - Create a new collision for the platform (Use Animated Collision tutorial for this)
8) - Save the file.
9) - Use "Editing .rel Files" tutorial to edit the .rel data for Flatzone 2 so that Final Destination based stages will work over it.
10) - Add the new stage (And .rel file) to your SD
11) - Use "Custom Stage Select Portraits" tutorial to make a nice new picture of your stage.
12) - Add the new stage picture file (Described in the "Custom Stage Select Portraits" tutorial) to your SD card.
13) - Slap that down into your wii
14) - Run through GeckOS or equivilant
15) - Play!

Now it is like Flatzone 2 NEVER existed! As far as we can tell from the Stage Select Screen, it isnt there, and when we play it, we get a cool variant of FD!
Please note, that you could do this tut, but instead of this modded FD stage, use a SSE stage!

You could have one SSE stage over each of the following useless stages:
1) - Flatzone 2
2) - Mushroomy Kingdom
3) - Mario Circuit
4) - The Pirate Ship
5) - Battleship Halberd
6) - Lylat Cruise
7) - Port Town Aero Dive
8) - New Pork City
9) - The Summit
10) - 75m
11) - Mario Bros.
12) - Hanenbow
13) - Green Hill Zone
14) - Onett
15) - Corneria
16) - Rainbow Cruise
17) - Green Greens
18) - Big Blue

That is 18 stages that can be made into totally custom stages! Make brawl your own experience! Substitute EVERYTHING! live life in hacking to the max!

Finishing All Demonstrations Info

This one is pretty self explanitory, but since it looks like it will win, I'll do some explaining anyway.

If this wins, I will do all the demonstrations that have fallen behind in the past couple tutorials.
I think there are about 3 I haven't done (I'll check and do them all, no matter the number).

So yea, vote for that you completionists!
Question of the day:
"Do You Think They Will Make Another SSB Game Ever?"

Monday, April 26, 2010

Altering .rel Files Information

OK, judging by how many votes this has, people obviously do not know what it is.
Becuase it is AWESOME.
Everyone keeps asking me questions about custom stages like the following:

"Does this have to go over FD?"
"Can this go over 75M?"
"Does this work on top of Flatzone 2?"

This tutorial, covers hexing the files so they ALL WORK!
Which means, that we can finally get rid of those crappy gimmick stages, permanently!
And since I have already covered hexing, we would have an easy time doing it!

Imagine this, with the following tutorials, you can actually make a 100% fully original stage list.
- Creating Stages From Elements Of Other Stages (Or Creation Of 2D Stages)
- Altering .rel Files
- Changing Stage Selection Portraits

BAM! FULLY CUSTOMIZED BRAWL STAGES. 100% original.

Question of the day:
"How awesome is this!?"

P.S. Please check out a new feature of this blog, The "Ask A Question, Get An Answer!" section! Please feel free to ask any brawl related questions, and also, ANSWER other's questions if you can! I hope this will build our little community even more. Try it out!

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Bone Add

It's here!
The long time competitor since poll 01 has finally arrived, come and watch as I explain the basics of the tool "Bone Add".
Withhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif this program we can add imaginary bones to model so they can swap over other models. The possibilities are now endless, no model is out of grasp, go crazy everyone!
"Tingle Tingle Kaloo Limpa!" - Tingle

Brawl Modding Tutorial - Bone Add
Enjoy!

Question:
"Who are you going to use Bone Add on?"

P.S. I have just completed a massive update to the site, check it out!
New features include:
- Added "Brawl Modding Tutorials And Demos" Section
- Updated Brawlbox Tutorial Section
- Updated PSA Tutorial Section
- Added "3DS Max Tutorial" Section
- Updated "Animations" Section
Enjoy the expanded website!

Bone Adding Has Won!

Alright, its time to shine has finally arose, thank you to everyone who voted, they all count in making this better for you, the viewer.

Expect this tutorial to be out sooner rather than later, I'm thinking by the end of the weekend for sure.

But, here is an important question:

"Should this tutorial cover:
A) - Only bone adding program
B) - A project involving bone adder from start to finish"

You choose!

Friday, April 23, 2010

Another Close Poll!

Oh wow, the two big contenders are fighting for the top with just 14 hours left!
I'm excited to do either one, but it seems like Bone Adder is always the bridesmaid, never the bride.

There may be a twist ending to this one!

Question of the day:
"Which did you vote for? And why do you want it so bad?"

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

Animated Collisions For Custom Stages Info

Alrighty then, this is our new contendee this week, let's learn a bit more about it.
Remember that Creating Stages From Elements Of Other Stages tutorial?
Well, what if you wanted things to... Move.

As we all know, collision data is stationary, with this tutorial, we would learn how to make them MOVE!

Examples of this can be found on the Animal Crossing stage, and Skyworld.
This seems like something people would be into, so I hope to see more votes for it!

Goto And If Statements In PSA

Alright, this was suggested to me first, so I'm doing it first.
If any of you have ever done coding (I have!), you will know what a "Goto" and "If" statement are, if you havent, prepare to get learn'd.

In code, you have commands, and actions (And others stuff, but this is the basics).

when an action is completed, the command executes.
easy enough right?

The command is typically like the code below:
If P1 presses "A" button;
Goto Subaction115

Let's dissect that info.
"If P1 (Player one) presses (Inputs a controller command of button down) "A" button (The button on the controller named "A");
"Goto (Go to the location of) Subaction115 (Standard attacking animation/psa data)

Do you all understand If/Goto statements and how they work?
good.
This is how they are utilized for awesome sauce hacking.

We could make mario's standard B move (Fireball) shoot 7 fireballs with the press of one button, then make him automatically short-hop F-smash to deliver the final blow.
That is just one possibility of the infinite things code can do.

Tutorial Info

Alright, it seems like the close race between Bone Adding and Brawl Stage Studio is almost over.

Bone Adding has (For now) come out on top, and you can expect this tutorial for release this weekend.

Now, in the comments section for this, I want to ask a question.
"What Assist Trophy Model Shall We Add Bones To?"

Let me know! (And remember to "Follow" me on Blogger with your Google Account!)

Changing CSS Names Info

This tutorial would cover changing the name that appears when you select a character on the CSS (Character Select Screen).
When you select "Mario", beside your player slot, it says "Mario" and a picture of your current costume.
What we would do, is change that to say something different, such as "Inferno Mario" or "Shadow" or any other word we want.

I hope this gets some more votes, because the race is REALLY close between the two big contenders.

Also, if you have a set of websites you visit daily, please add this to them so you can see the biggest updates in the brawl world (Atleast mine...).

Thanks! And remember, if you cannot stand my crappy microphone, donate some spare money to get me a better one! This benefits everyone, and I am sure you will love it aswell!

Looping Custom Songs Info

Alright, We have already done the Custom songs tutorial, twice.
But, what we did not do, is the LOOPING tutorial.

you know when a song ends, there is that lull where it quiets down?
Well, if you put a song on repeat, it sounds bad, because the end and beggining dont match up well.

This tutorial would focus on making the songs work well, so they CAN loop to a near perfect cycle.
We would take a song, find the loop points, convert to wii cycles, and add those flags to the song in the GUI.

Vote for this if you love music!

Brawl Stage Studio Info

OK, so this tutorial would have to do with making custom stages on your computer.
You all know the custom stage builder in brawl right?
Well someone made a version to do the same things (And more) on your computer!

You can enjoy the easier interface and some new abilities (Walkoff edges, etc) with this cool program.
Make sure to vote for this if you are an aspiring stage maker!

Sorry guys!

Thanks to Mewtwo2000 for being to amazing and helpfull!

New Tutorial Information

OK, here is the problem, as the subject of "Creating stages from elements of other stages" is SO broad, I am going to hold a special poll, JUST for what I should showcase in my tut.

This works nicely, as it gives me more time to communicate with some custom stage pros, and make the tut better, AND you all get something that is what you want.
(I was gonna do toon links level, but the rock you sometimes hit, is the FD stage, i know, boring.)

So check out the new poll, I'm super busy, I can't even describe how busy, vote vote vote!
Last week's poll had a decrease in total voters, i dont want that again! If you care, vote!

Monday, April 5, 2010

I'm home!

I'm officially back from vacation, and that tut will be done for tomorrow, also, I will have the new poll up tomorrow.
Enjoy the one day long wait!

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Poll Results!

Alright! Creating Stages From Elements of Other Stages has won!
If you want more info on what this is, check out my earlier post about it.
As I said earlier, I am on vacation until Monday night, and as such, I will do this tut on Tuesday.

Enjoy the wait! (I'm sunburnt)

New Info

OK, I realise that I haven't posted since Tuesday, and I apologise for that.
I've had big things going on in my life right now.
Also, as of wednesday night, i have been on vacation to beautiful Miami Florida.

I do not have time (Or the resources) to write anything brawl related, as I'm on my laptop (And no one wants me to make more laptop tuts, you know, with the BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP when i talk).

I return from my Vacay on Monday night, and should have the tutorial that won finished on Tuesday, also hopefully the Demo for the last tut.

Thanks for understanding, and keep modding brawl. (One of the reasons i put a mini-project, was so you all had something to do when i was away, I expect great goombas from everyone!)

Mini-Project 01

Alright, I have covered all the current contenders in the poll, so I am going to change tack, and describe another aspect of this blog!

Mini Project 01:

Name: Goomba Joins The Brawl!
Required Tutorials: Model Swapping, Adding Bones To Models, Animation Editing, Automatic Polygon Deleter.

Alright, I know one of those is not made yet, and that is why you would need to vote for it. Basically, to do this tutorial, you will have needed to watch and truly understand all the above tutorials. If you do not know how to do all these steps by heart (Or tutorial assist) it may take a long time to complete, and you should stick to simpler projects.

This will be a brief outline on how to make your very own Goomba!

1) - Download the .pac file with the trophies.
2) - open that file.
3) - Export the model and texure of Goomba
4) - Open Kirby's model file in BB
5) - Replace Kirby's model with the Goomba model, do the same with the texture.
6) - Check in the model previewer to see if it works.
7) - Use the Automatic Polygon Deleter to remove the STAND of the trophy.
8) - Use the Bone Adder to give the trohpy enough bones to be able to go over Kirby.
9) - Your Done! Test in brawl, and make adjustments from there.

This has been the first Mini-Project. I will do these on occaision, for when I got nothing else to offer. I hope some of you try this out, possibly with your own characters and ideas. Remember to Put videos of your creations on youtube and Video Response them to my videos so everyone can see! Enjoy!

Brawl Wall Info

Alright, I know a lot of you went:
"What is brawl wall doing on that poll? Oh well, I'll vote for something else."
but I'm going to explain it for you!

Brawlwall is an application like Brawlbox and PSA that allows you to edit almost ALL aspects of a stage.
Collisions (Which we already covered in Brawlbox), Item spawn locations, Player spawn locations, and some other things that stages have.

The most important part of this tutorial would follow "Player spawn locations" as that is currently the only thing holding back our 2D stages from TRUE originality.

I hope this cleared things up!

Creating Stages From Elements Of Other Stages Info

Alright, now what many people may not know, is that all models are interchangable, and delicious.
So, we can have a stage, that has buildings from starfox levels, and platforms from skyworld, and all sorts of other models from stages, in ONE stage.
There is a great example of this on youtube, watch it below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3d8gunbGDoQ

That is basically what we will be making with this tut.
but remember to vote for what you want!

Custom Song Titles

It has been done.
Heres the link to the tutorial, the demo should be up later.
Enjoy!
and please vote for next weeks tutorial. An extra apology to everyone who voted for Custom SFX.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_p__Rbg8cs

Thanks again!

Poll Change

I have an announcement to make, unfortunately, the tutorial that was chosen to be done this week, has hit a huge snag. Please continue reading for the whole story.
Creating custom SFX is possible, but the way to go about and DO that, is actually impossible for a lot of people, including me.
One of the steps that you need to do, is to extract the .wav audio file from smashbox (Program prior to brawlbox). Unfortunately, if you do not have Windows XP Service pack 2 (Or 3), it will not work for you. This includes me, as I'm running Vista.

I will not be able to make this tutorial until the method for making custom SFX is made easier, or more available to the public, I apologize for putting the tutorial on the poll, at the time I did not realise the method was going to be undo-able.

I will be making the Second Best choice, Changing Song Names, and this will be done by today.
Once again, I am sorry, but this is all I can do for you all.

Thursday, March 25, 2010

Poll Results!

Custom Sound Effects has won!
Congratulations to everyone who took the time to vote, you are all cool. :)

I can't make the tut now, becuase I'm really busy and stuff, but it should be made tomorrow morning! enjoy the wait!

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Changing The Titles For Songs

Wow! Another difficult title to comprehend...
Basically, you know when you put your custom songs in brawl, but it still says "Final Destination (Melee)" on the side?
Well this is what this fixes, and how cool is that?!

Imagine loading up Norfair and seeing at the top "Puff the Magic Dragon Theme" pop up.
Epic.

Custom Character Selection Background Info

Hey, It's time for some more info on the other choices, although... really... SFX has won.
Again I'd like to thank everyone who has voted, the total has surpassed double the last poll, and I am very proud of this quick success.
I would really like to recommend everyone who has subscribed to me on youtube, to also sign in here (Same account, Google owns everything), and "Follow" this blog. This generates me revenue from ads, and is a great way for you all to help me without donating a chunk of money yourselves.

On to describing!
You all have watched the Custom Main Menu Background tutorial, and so obviously, this would be very similar, except with the CHARACTER SELECTION SCREEN. That's about all the needs explaining. I hope someone out there understands this all better now!

Monday, March 22, 2010

Changing Stage Selection Portraits

Well, ignoring the fact that one of the contenders has 60% of the votes, I shall continue discussing the other options!

Changing the Stage Selection Portraits would be a tutorial on how to make the picture for a stage, be different! (Wow obvious I know!).
But think about it, I just did a tut on making 2-D stages, but what if you dont want to select "Final Destination" for that stage? what if you want to select "Coke Can On Firey Background"?

This would show you how to get a image up there instead of FD!
You could also use this to change Rumble Falls picture into Wifi-Waiting Room permanently!
So handy!
Vote!
Now!

Custom SFX

Alright, time to get learn'd on Custom SFX.
Basically, what a SFX is, is a Sound Effect.
A Sound Effect, is any noise that occurs in game that is NOT the background song.
So, for example, "Falcon PAWNCH" and the announcer saying "CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER" are both Sound Effect files.

What this tutorial would show you, is HOW to edit these files and replace them with any audio you want. Make C. Falcon yell "CAPTAIN CRAWWWNCH!!!" or the announcer say "Shadow!" instead of "Sonic!" at the CSS.

I hope this clears up any confusion about this choice, although it seems many want this.
Check back often!

Saturday, March 20, 2010

Current Poll

Oh wow! It hasnt even been 3 days since I put up the new poll, and we have already eclipsed the total voters of the last poll!
Hopefully the votes will keep pouring in, so far it seems like Custom SFX is a big hit with you all.
Check my blog tomorow for a better description of WHAT exactly a Custom SFX Tutorial would entail.

It's a blog about Alpaca Wacka, whicha apparently is my alter-ego. :)
The person hasn't posted since last halloween, but still, it is quite halarious.

Tutorial For Tomorrow

Alright, it seems like 2D stages has won it, unless something drastic happens.
So, expect that tut to come out tomorrow, it should be awesome.
Also, check back here tomorrow for the NEW poll, for the next tut.

A preview of the choices are below (Subject to change of course):

1) - Adding Bones to Models
2) - Screenshots to CSP's
3) - Custom SFX
4) - CSS Backgrounds
5) - Adding New Characters to Brawl

As with last week, as the voting goes on, I will post a description of what each one is, so check back daily!

Rugby

Since I got nothing to talk about relating to Brawl, I've decided to take a different tack for today's post.
Rugby.
today was my team's first game, and we won!
Reply with hundreds and hundreds of "Yay you rock!" type comments!

Landslide!

Oh wow, after my comment explaining 2D stages, it appears that they have it with a landslide!
I guess I should offer up info on the third choice aswell.

When you have a custom texture for a character, and want that to be the image you see when SELECTING that character, you need to edit the CSP.
I have a tut on this already, but it is very basic.
This tut that you would vote for would include:

1) Converting brawl screenshots to .jpg images
2) Creating CSP's from .jpg images
3) Implenting those CSP's back into brawl.

Hope this gets the third option some votes!

2D Stages

Maybe some people do not understand what this is exactly, so I'll explain a bit of it here.
A 2-Dimensional stage is basically 2 pictures, stacked on top of each other.
The first picture is a background, something like a picture of a sky, or ocean.
The second picture is what you stand on, it is your battle platform, and could be a picture of anything you want, a island, a game level, a character, a potato.

Using collision editor, we make that second image become the floor, and with this technique, we get a 100% new stage.

Hope ya learn'd somethin'!

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Next Tut

Looks like I'm going to be doing the addition of bones!
There is still almost a week left to vote (It's on the top left), so if you want anything else, vote for it!

Just some Brawl modding info (So you learn something everytime you come here), why would we add bones to a model? Well this is because we cannot put a custom model over a character if the new character has LESS bones then the brawl character.
So for example, if we want to put Frank West, on top of Luigi, if Frank has 118 bones, and Luigi has 150 bones, we would have to ADD bones to Frank to make this work.
Hope ya learned something. :)

Poll

Hey, I have a new poll, this is probably where I will hit my stride as far as this blog goes.
My random day to day life probably isn't that interesting to most, but obviously my tutorials touch a lot more people.
SO, watch out for the weekly poll, and remember to visit back often to see some PSA or BrawlBox related info.
Thanks!

Physics Test

Oh man, I took a physics test on 3 chapters of our text book I was away for when they were taught.
And I was sure I'd failed, but... I got it back today, and I got 15/17.
Wow.
I amaze even myself.

Rugby

Today rugby went for 2 hours, which is so far the longest practice we have had.
I'm a forward, or back... whichever does the scrum.
In the scrum I'm the flank, but each role is interchangable.

Our first game is the 15th, monday! I'm excited.

Monday, March 8, 2010

Tennis

At tennis today we practiced serves - which I'm amazing at.
After the practise we played games against each other, and the very first game I played I started as the server.
The opponent said "Show me an Ace!"
And I replied ""Show me the money" - Starcraft
Then I actually got an ace on the first ball of the first game.

He stood there for a while, shocked.
Good day all in all.

Tears For The Cobbler

The other day I was thinking, something I highly recommend doing sometime.
Whilst thinking, I realised that the days of the cobbler were gone, I became quite sad afterwards, and thought more about if this could be true.
Who makes shoes anymore? Really it is just the big name companies. In my lifetime I haven't even seen a shoe store with a cobbler on site. And who even bothers with shoe repairs?

The obvious exception would be expensive leather shoes, but even then, machines CAN make those. No one can deny that a hand made pair of Italian leather dress shoes are of the utmost quality, but, for us commoners, the days of the cobbler are over.

Party Saturday Night

Gah, I went to a party Saturday night, it was pretty fun.
We played Beer-Pong, which was equally halarious and aggrivating.
Those cups are so hard to hit!
I was sitting on a comfy chair, and playing around with my phone in my hand.
Just like flicking it around my wrist and stuff, but then it slipped out, and flew across the room.
It smacked into my friends french door, and shattered a segment of glass.
:(
Yea...
Needless to say, I'm broke now.

Sunday, March 7, 2010

No Ideas

I got no ideas what to talk about, so I'm posting a "I don't know what to talk about" post.
I'm tired.
I like Coke.

New Video!

Hey, check out my new video which showcases my two pieces of work from the VFS intensive!
"Oh... Those ACTORS!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTKRI6ZKhW8

Sleepy

Hey, I'm sleepy, played a lot of Brawl last night, owned a lot of noobs.
"GANON BROS!"
"DROPPIN' LOADS!"
I woke up at noon-thirty, which means i got 7 hours of sleep.
Sleeeeepyyyyy....

Nights Events

I got home from VFS day two party, those guys are cool.
A lot of fun times at the party, after that I went to my friends house.
Me and this loser kid played StarCraft and I owned him 6-0.
We made fun of him until he freaked out.
All in all, it was a good night.

VFS Day Two!

Hey, I'm on my way to the bus, which will take me to the sky train, which will drop me off 5 blocks from the school!
Today we are going to do 3D work, I'm pretty excited.
More on the experience later!

Ju-On The Grudge

OH MAN!
This is the scariest game I have ever played...
Since Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Although... It is very repetitive, and if you die, you start from a previous checkpoint.
This makes the game scary the FIRST run through, but not all future plays.

Blog Finished Updating!

Hey, I finished adding everything to this blog!
Expect great things to come, and click on the video links for some good entertainment!

VFS Intensive Program

Hey everyone, today was my first day at VFS.
It was really cool, we learned about the history of animation, and then did some classical animation on paper.
I drew a 57 frame animation of a guy getting shot out of a cannon, I'll post it up later.

Blog is up!

Yay, I got a blog.
Check back to see updates and stuff!
